Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation Review

Welcome to my first blogpost! I've been reading beauty blogs and watching YouTube videos for years and thought I'd contribute to this amazing community. This is my review on Nars' newest liquid foundation the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I had heard several glowing reviews and was very interested in trying this new guy out.

My skin: Normal/Combo - T-zone will get a little oily throughout the day, normal cheeks otherwise

One pump of this foundation is probably about half a regular pump of foundation quantity wise. Nars claims one pump is sufficient to cover your entire face but I found the coverage on one pump with a beauty blender to be a very light coverage. 2 pumps definitely builds to a medium coverage - it definitely evened out my redness but you will still need a concealer if you have very dark undereyes or blemishes/freckles you want concealed. The foundation is quite watery and you have to shake the bottle prior to application. The finish is somewhat dewy and definitely not matte. I felt the foundation looked pretty natural from a distance - but up close you can definitely tell you are wearing makeup. I set the foundation with a powder as I do with any liquid foundation but found that it did transfer with touching or rubbing my face. I wore it for about 12 hours and by the end of the day there was definite wear - around my nose you could see redness peeking through and over the course of the day I did find myself feeling like I was "wearing the foundation". I don't get super oily, but this foundation did not control any of my oiliness at all.

Bare skin.
One pump applied with damp beauty blender. No powder. Natural light.

Two pumps.

Three pumps.

All in all, I thought this was a fairly nice foundation. It definitely gave a luminosity to the face, but I was disappointed it did not look more natural at the coverage level I had hoped for. Color-wise, I just came back from vacation and got a little more color, so I felt the color match was decent. The Barcelona shade I got leans on the peachy side, as you can see from the picture above compared to MAC pro long-wear concealer in NC35. I don't believe it wears for 16 hours, and I think that if you're oily, this will start feeling pretty slick over the course of the day without touch-ups. I work long days and do not have time to touch up my makeup at all. Further, the transfer factor was rather annoying and I think you will have to be careful if you're hugging someone or touching your face and then your clothing.

Overall, I'm not sure if this is a keeper for its $48 USD pricetag. Let me know your thoughts! Also, bear with me as I learn how to do this blogging thing!

  1. From your photo, the Barcelona shade does look more warm than the MAC NC35, but it seems like a good colour match with your holiday tan. I like how the foundation has a dewy finish, but it's a shame that it transfers and doesn't last all day. I'm looking forward to more reviews!

    1. Thanks for reading! As always I find foundation to be very personal to each person and many times something works for one person but not for another...the quest for the perfect foundation continues!
